Was planning to get a small stubby tank, either a 45 pimp tank or a 45 guerilla tank.

The thing about pimp tank, i can't seem to find much information about this tank in google.

Anyone care to enlighten me please? Thanks

pimped tank? this should be the tank that u're talking about

it is 48cu, 4500 psi. tank bottle manufacturer is inocom. i have this tank myself. this is captured label from mine.

as u probably figured it our ourself already, the bottle manufacturer name (inocom) doesn't make the tank name (pimped). as other tank was named after, macdev, cp, draxxus, etc etc - the tank name is after the regulator's name.

so the reg for "pimped tank" could be "pimped reg" ?.

i don't know other pimped, but the reg for my pimped is crap. the reg probably was an attempted failure to imitate myth reg. i had it replaced to another reg btw.

another consideration for buying a tank is the weight. as u can see from my statement above, the tank's brand is determined by the regulator's. so to answer ur question -

Quote
Was planning to get a small stubby tank, either a 45 pimp tank or a 45 guerilla tank.

1- check the bottle manufacturer. is it the same manufacturer? if different, which one is lighter?
2- then, check the regulator. i'll choose ga myth's regulator over pimped tank for any day.

summary
1- if u want to buy pimped tank, get the reg replaced !  Shocked Roll Eyes Tongue
2- tank's weight is a combination of bottle + reg combined. so to get the lightest tank, is to get lightest tank + lightest reg. myth reg having short profile compare to other reg. that's y it is one of the lightest.

just to add some information, other bottle manufacturer than inocom is luxfer. there should be more but that's all i can remember now in my tiny brain atm. i think it is ligher than inocom. the lightest should be stako. oh ya. stako is different because when stako is the bottle itself. even if the stako paired with myth reg, people doesn't call it myth tank, but stako tank.

this is all i know. some people might have different opinion or facts. i'm not going into debate for this one haha so basically u can crosscheck what i said here with other people and if i am wrong, i am happy to be corrected .. u know Grin

.....the tank name is after the regulator's name....
slight correction here.... tank name & reg name are not the same...  - one could be using a smart part tank, the reg could be a myth or a CP reg.

altho most come ready with reg, u can still buy it separately - choice of tank & reg is self-preference. i used to have a crossfire tank with CP reg & a dye throttle bottle fitted with myth reg

'Most' of d tanks were made from d same materials..with exception of 'Stako'..
'PIMPED', 'CP', 'NINJA', 'GUERILLA', 'SP' etc. are merely branding name..and most of it are 4500psi, only cubic inch (ci) are diff - 45-48-60-68-70-71 etc..
Most important thing is d regulator..take into account of its pressure - hi/low, reliability and after sale service (spare parts)..

hi Loh

Stako is special.

lets talk about the common way of building a 4500psi tank.

first, they use an aluminium alloy bottle (called the liner) which is then wrapped in carbon fibre (black color fibres) by a computerised machine that wounds it evenly.
this carbon fibre is also pre-coated with epoxy, which is then baked in a vacuum environment to remove any air trapped in between.

most manufacturers then add a layer of fibreglass (the white color fibre) over that for additional strength + a label + a nice clear coat for the glossy finishing.

ok with the Stako:
these guys use a plastic (polyester) liner instead of a heavier aluminium liner. This part is the significant weight saver. then the wrapping in carbon fibre, possibly more layers than aluminium liner bottles, and they skipped the fibreglass bit.

this saves just a little bit more weight as well.
the only trouble with Stako, is that there isnt a  re-Hydro date (its 1 time use only) and the liner will collapse slightly if you completely release all the air (like if you removed the regulator. *to prevent this, just keep it filled with some air.

also, for those who uses HPA tanks with regulator,
here's a tip from the guy (forgotten his name haha) who invented the bottle regulator (Myth!)
when filling from zero, (complete empty) fill slowly to 500psi. then wait 5 secs. (this is to let the regulator springs and shims seat properly. Then fill slowly to 1000psi. wait 5 secs. After that you can fill normally.

this allows the regulator to be seated and set properly. Failure to do so, would produce erratic output pressures. (ppl with CP regulators would wonder why the 1.5k burst disk keeps blowing up!)

hope this helps Wink

anyway u can feel the weight difference if u are holding it away from yourself but with full marker set up and holding it to ur shoulder and ready to play.... its almost weights virtually the same.

holding a marker closer to ur body makes it feel lighter.... and tank with air in it will get a little heavy
