We are fully licensed by the Royal Malaysian Police to be in possession of paintball markers which are considered firearms in the constitution of Malaysia. It is covered by the Malaysian Firearm's Act.If in doubt, kindly contact our Federal Police HQ at Bukit Aman.It will be under the licensing department.

Hi Steve..the license is applied for from PDRM(Royal Malaysia Police). You can get in touch with their firearm licensing division and get the relevant info for application. Be warned though...they are not generous at all when it comes to issuing the license. The final word comes from the IGP and on his desk are possibly more than a 100 applications. In the past 5 years..only 11 or 12 have ever been approved.....

they're just worry too much and still very close-minded. the minister might not risk themselves to take any responsible if any incident occurred....

well the thing is our sport ministry not pushing hard enough. they should play paintball!!!
another thing, how can marker kill people? can u modifiy it to shoot ballbearings? Answer is no!
Then how bout archery? why the police never do anything bout that? that can for sure kill people, silence mode somemore... hehehe.
all can be done... just how people look at it. Our sports ministry and police should sit down and talk bout it. if they want to ask for permit, they should ask from archery people too...

Interpretation
2. (1) In this Act—“discharge” means to cause the discharge of a shot, bullet or other missile from a firearm by means of an explosive charge, andincludes the causing of a bomb or grenade to explode
“firearm” means any lethal barrelled weapon of any description from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged by means of an explosive charge, and includes a bomb or grenade containing an explosive charge;at which point does paintball come into this...?

hmmm interesting. but still. its a SPORT!!! why why why??? no such rules or law say archery need permit too??? from what i was told when i asked the police, its all about field safety. but field safety is from council not police and yet archery target range here in Kuching has NO safety netting. Not sure bout other state. Well, as we all know, we Malaysians like to make things complicated. Even tinted cars are very light. maybe our govt never realize it because they been sitting in all black tint cars. What to say paintball... maybe we just need younger people in the parliment so they can fight for the love of the game. Those people now in the parliment BN or Gerakan both dont care much about this sport. NOT to say in PAS states its BANNED rite?

as i recall, from another part of that act (still trying to look for that part), apart from explosive, HPA was also mentioned as the propellent of this thing called 'firearm'...& just so happen that paintball markers are also propelled by HPA... so... as for archery, it is not propelled by anything else other than the string tension, so it doesn't fall under the firearms act. safety requirement in archery is not as strict as paintball - a protective board behind target area OR fenced area of at least 20m... & of course the side lines are also off limit... this is bcoz apart from it's not human, archery target is static, specifically 10cm in diameter right at the center of the 1m in diameter target butt. archers have to be calm & are very focus in hitting that within the given time.. the 'target' in paintball on the other hand moves around constantly, where the pellet gonna hit is kinda unpredictable, else the refs won't get shot laa.... the difficulties we have now is not really from the safety aspect as all sports has its safety regulation, but it's the definition of the said act & of course the understanding of the sports itself by the mass...

do you guys know that crossbow need permit "license"...
but bow is just a tool "equipment" of sport...
we surrendered our crossbow to the police about 10 years ago when told that crossbow are "haram"... but we are allowed to keep the bow as the police said " ohh... itu cuma alat sukan...tak paya..."

yes, of all the archery equipment, only the crossbow needs some kind of permit. don't really know why, never really bother to check at that time since most of us were on recurves & some on compound. maybe of its appearance or could be the string poundage (shooting power) - recurves & compound are between 38lbs ~ 70lbs.. even lower for training bows.. ok, back to the matter at hand... too much 'hearsay' in actual content of the act. gonna need someone who are well-verse in laws to make a study on this maybe file a motion to exclude paintball from the act. are there any lawyers among the paintballers that would volunteer for this...? can't expect the poor paintballers to hire a lawyer for this, we're scratching hi & lo just to pay for the training & tourney expenditure... maybe industry big players can work together to work this out.. imagine the support any one body can get if this thing got settled... another 'father' in pb maybe...?
