i agree with BPP that paintball needs to be played by government agencies themselves esp. Sports ministry. and maybe they should have a look at DVDs from PSP world cup games etc to maybe have a better understanding of the benefits of the sport. And i agree that Archery is a far more dangerous sport. with a projectile range of what? maybe 100 m or more...?? and whatever body armour or face mask cant stop an arrow coming..

The paintball marker is considered as a firearm...since.....as Ive been told by sumone in the force....since it has a trigger and a grip..voila'..so we need license. However,it is hard to say also la..Just be thankful that paintball is not banned in our country cos there arent any crime involving paintball.

But then again...

Who would be dumb enough to buy a RM4*** marker to rob a supermarket?Why go through all the trouble of buying pellets and filling up the tank..hahaha..

i guess it is up 2 us to promote to them that pb is safe. as long as marker owners are responsible and use the marker at the rite place for the rite reason, maybe markers can easily got clearance for a permit from pdrm. but as far as i'm concern, being responsible is a bit tricky here for some. whenever i bring the marker at pameran pejabat belia dan sukan, theres always someone who ask "baper ringgit ni bang? nak gn tembak tupai leh?" "nak tembak ayam leh?" wtf la! but pdrm blm enforced la sampai kena rampas marker ni. as long as it is not assemble when u travel along with it, no prob kot..hehe

Archery is Sunah Rasulullah. Prophet Muhammad encourages Muslims to take up archery and horse riding because those skills (during his years) can be used in war. Since it is practised by Muhammad it is a Sunnah and means Muslims taking up archery and horse riding is actually performing a Sunnah Rasul means being rewarded the pahala for following what Muhammad S.A.W did.

There is no such thing as PAS controlled states ban paintball because paintball, just like archery makes the player skillful in shooting and can be translated into using firearm in war. If one is skillful in shooting with paint marker, then he will have no problem when shooting with real guns if "FORCED" to use one in case of war or self defence.

Islam stipulate rules in relation to sports. The most important of all is to conceal the aurat and paintball is the only sport that (force)  Muslim men and women to totally cover the aurat (except maybe the hair). So there is nothing HARAM (unless the Fatwa Council says so) about playing paintball.

During the WCA 2009, Kedah a PAS controlled state had teams in D3 and D4. The same also during the My NPL.

yes, of all the archery equipment, only the crossbow needs some kind of permit. don't really know why, never really bother to check at that time since most of us were on recurves & some on compound. maybe of its appearance or could be the string poundage (shooting power) - recurves & compound are between 38lbs ~ 70lbs.. even lower for training bows..

ok, back to the matter at hand...
too much 'hearsay' in actual content of the act. gonna need someone who are well-verse in laws to make a study on this maybe file a motion to exclude paintball from the act. are there any lawyers among the paintballers that would volunteer for this...? can't expect the poor paintballers to hire a lawyer for this, we're scratching hi & lo just to pay for the training & tourney expenditure... maybe industry big players can work together to work this out.. imagine the support any one body can get if this thing got settled... another 'father' in pb maybe...? 

Just interupting, as I'm an archer as well, crossbow still required license to own, the poundage can go to 150lb as well and go 425fps.the other law that cause this crossbow under armour license it used trigger the same with speargun. that's as I understand but maybe I'm wrong.
True enought it's sunah nabi for archery but as badman said the shooting range is fix and you have time to think before release your arrow, even in east Malaysia at the end off the target range they still put barrier or boundry to avoid any accident. and stricly rules for archer not to allow any person or even animals pass by when releasing your arrow.
So for paintball it still have a trigger therefor I think the law still apply under firearms.
